Kingdom of Heaven is a movie about a French blacksmith named Balian of Ibelin. The movie takes place during the Middle Ages, when Crusades were still happening, and when Europe and the East were heavily conflicting with each other, almost a hundred years after Christian armies took Jerusalem back. Balian is extremely dispirited after his wife’s suicide and his child’s death. A Crusader who had just arrived in Balian’s village tells him that he is his father, Baron Godfrey of Ibelin, and he tells Balian to come with him to the holy city of Jerusalem, but he doesn’t accept the offer.
